ADMISSIONS
Our children range from 3-11 encompassing "Under Five's" in the Foundation Unit and both Key Stages 1 and 2 in the main school.
Children are admitted into Foundation 1 (part time) in the term after their third birthday and susequently into Foundation 2 (full time) in either September or January. If your child's 5th birthday is before 28th February they will be admitted in September. If their birthday is after 28th February they will be admitted in January.
Parents will receive a pack and application form for First Admissions in the December prior to the academic year in which their child will be five years old. The forms for First Admission are available online or from the catchment area school.
Over Subscription
In the event of over subscription the following criteria will be applied, in priority order, to determine which applications will be granted:
1. Children in public care
2. Children who attend the linked FS1 Provision and have a sibling at the school
3. Other children in the catchment area
4. Children outside the catchment area
In the event of oversubscription preference will normally be given to children who live nearest to the school as the crow flies. This is measured from the main door of the child’s house to the main entrance of the school. The exception to this is that all children who fall in criterion 1 or 2 and have made an application by the closing date of first admissions will be guaranteed a place if they request the school as first choice.
Special Circumstances
Consideration will be given to applicants who can establish particular medical needs, special educational need, social grounds relating to the child or children in public care. Supporting evidence in writing from a doctor, social worker or other relevant professional must be provided at the time of application. The definition of special educational need relates to learning difficulties that require special educational provision for the child. Special consideration will be given to children whose mobility needs mean they need specialist accommodation provided by a school in a designated ‘through route in a Family of Schools’. Each case will be determined on its merits. Special circumstances may take precedence over any of the numbered criteria above. The allocation of such places will be determined by the Head Teacher and Governors of the school and the Local Education Authority.
